About the Dean
Timothy M. McGeary was appointed the University Librarian and Andrew H. and Janet Dayton Neilly Dean of Libraries at the University of Rochester in March 2026.
Tim is a nationally respected leader in library technology, digital strategy, and research infrastructure, and he leads with a blend of strategic vision, technological insight, and a deep commitment to advancing the role of libraries in research, teaching, and community engagement. Previously Tim spent more than a decade at Duke University as the Associate University Librarian for Digital Strategies & Technology, where he guided major initiatives in digital infrastructure and scholarly innovation to build sustainable partnerships for research and scholarship. Tim also served at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Lehigh University.
Tim holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Master of Science in Information & Systems Engineering from Lehigh University, reflecting an academic path that bridges creativity, design, systems thinking, and information-driven strategic leadership. His work continues to foster the academic library community to empower discovery, support digital transformation, and connect people meaningfully with knowledge.
